Suspect charged with murder after woman killed in Maxi grocery store

MONTREAL – Randy Tshilumba, 19, has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 20-year-old Clémence Beaulieu-Patry.

She was killed while working at the Maxi grocery store in Saint-Michel.

The teen was arrested at his home in a third floor apartment on Davidson Street in the borough of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, between Notre-Dame and Sainte-Catherine streets.

“The man offered no resistance and was transferred to the detention centre,” said Abdullah Emran, a spokesperson with Montreal police.

Beaulieu-Patry was working in the clothing section of the Maxi grocery store on Papineau Avenue, near Crémazie Boulevard Sunday night when she was stabbed in the neck.

“There appears to be a link between the victim and the suspect,” Emran confirmed.

Tshilumba is expected back in court on April 27.
