Bail has been granted to a woman who was arrested along with an inmate who had escaped from a Saskatchewan jail. Tristen Smith was taken into custody last week when her boyfriend was found hiding north of Prince Albert.

Braidy Vermette, 28, escaped during the evening of March 30 during a medical transport to a Prince Albert hospital. Police said two masked individuals – one armed with a gun, the other bear mace, attacked correctional officers who were escorting Vermette from the Prince Albert Correctional Centre to a local hospital for treatment of a lacerated arm.

Vermette and another man are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Troy Napope, who disappeared last May after a party outside Prince Albert. His body has never been recovered.
