Ticketmaster to begin selling tickets through Facebook

If you see a concert or event listing while cruising Facebook, soon you will be able to buy tickets right then and there without being redirected to the Ticketmaster site.

The new feature should be rolled out in the next few weeks.

The massive ticket vendor says it hopes to boost sales through the partnership.

“This new functionality will streamline the consumer experience allowing for easier purchase of live event tickets,” Ticketmaster said in a statement.

Ticketmaster’s overall goal is to get tickets into consumer’s hands as fast and easily as possible. It’s banking on the combination of Facebook’s billion-plus active users along with its own secure, verified ticket technology to “provide a seamless experience allowing the fan to purchase at the point of event discovery.”

The new purchase option goes hand-in-hand with Facebook Official Events, which was introduced in November 2015. There are 75,000 events currently published to Facebook, with approximately 5,000 new events added each month.

The new feature’s rollout will begin with general admission events in North America by the end of April. The purchasing option will be available through the Facebook app, as well as the social media giant’s mobile web and desktop versions.
