REGINA – Queen City residents are generally happy living in the city, but trust in the city is lacking.
Seventy eight per cent of Reginans rate the quality of life in the city as good. Eighty per cent of residents feel like the city is on the right track to be a better city 10 years from now.
“We already know Regina is a great place to live, so it wasn’t surprising to hear this echoed by residents,” Mayor Michael Fougere said.
“In this time of exciting growth for our city, it is validating to hear residents say we’re heading in the right direction.”
The one area of concern for the city during the survey was that only 43 per cent respondents said they trust the city while 26 per cent are neutral about trusting the city.
“We believe progress in three targeted areas will help build Reginans’ trust in the City while improving other scores,” Holden said.
“Our key priorities are to improve customer service, better educate, inform and engage residents – particularly on how property tax dollars are allocated, and improve accountability and reporting.”
On property taxes 50 per cent of respondents feel they’re getting good or very good value for the taxes they pay, while 14 per cent feel they’re getting good low value and 59 per cent support increasing taxes to maintain or increase services.
