Abbotsford Police warn residents of Craigslist phone theft scam

The Abbotsford Police Department(APD) is warning the public after reports of three separate incidents involving an iPhone for sale on Craigslist.

In all cases, an iPhone 6 was listed for sale on Craigslist, and meeting times were organized with the seller between about 2:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. At the meeting, the victims were approached by two suspects, who then pepper sprayed them, and stole their phone.

The APD says people who meet with strangers to sell things should be cautious and always meet during the day in busy public areas.
