Twitter has struck a deal with the NFL to steam 10 Thursday night football games on its platform.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Twitter COO Adam Bain both confirmed the deal in separate tweets Tuesday morning. Starting this fall, Twitter will steam 10 live Thursday night games, as well as the pre and post-game shows. Twitter will also offer behind-the-scene Periscope footage during the games.
“This new deal builds on the great success of our Amplify partnership the past 3 years w/ the NFL…and now allows full LIVE game on Thursday,” Bain tweeted.

“It also continues our strategy to build world’s best daily connected audience that watches together & can talk with one another in real-time.”
In August, Twitter announced a two-year content and advertising deal with the NFL. As part of the deal the NFL said it planned to funnel nearly three times more content into Twitter, including video highlights and pictures from games in progress.

Twitter will also use an automated formula to prominently display NFL tweets and related ads in the streams of users who often tweet about football.
The move comes at a time of uncertainty for Twitter. The social networking site showed no user growth at all in its last quarterly earnings report, leaving Twitter with about 320 million monthly users – roughly one-fifth the size of Facebook.
