Southeast Calgary Sobeys location targeted by thieves in smash and grab

WATCH: Police said thieves attempting to steal an ATM from a southeast Calgary Sobeys location were unsuccessful. Doug Vaessen has details from the scene. – Apr 4, 2016

CALGARY – Police are searching for suspects following an attempted smash and grab at a Sobeys in the community of Riverbend.

It happened in the 8000 block of 18 Street S.E. at around 4 a.m. on Monday.

Police believe the suspects used a truck to smash through the front glass doors of the grocery store, at which time they attempted to steal an ATM but were unsuccessful.

It’s not believed anything was taken.

Police are in the process of reviewing CCTV footage from the scene.
