LAKE COUNTRY — Jason Dunn is nursing his bruised body, saying he feels lucky to be alive after a driver crashed into him and fled the scene.
“I don’t know how you could live with yourself and hit somebody and not know if they’re okay,” says Dunn.
It happened around 11:20 p.m. in a mobile home park on the 8900 block of Highway 97 in Lake Country.
Residents say they heard the driver speeding through a dirt-paved area at the back of the trailer park.
Dunn leapt into action in an attempt to stop the driver, a decision he says he sorely regrets.
“It almost seemed like he sped up and hit me. I don’t know if I lost consciousness for a minute or two but I just remember getting up.”
He was taken to hospital and released within a couple of hours. He suffers abrasions on his back and right shin, and sharp pains through his shoulders, back and legs.
RCMP say the suspect vehicle is a 2014 or 2015 white SUV, possibly a Nissan, Mazda or Hyundai.
Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP or Crimestoppers.
