A suspicious-looking rental truck forced the evacuation of New York City’s Times Square in the heart of the theatre district Saturday night.
Hundreds of people were forced from the tourist destination at around 7:50 pm when a member of the New York Police Department’s Critical Response Command spotted the unattended box truck, according to the New York Times.
The truck was said to contain suspicious looking wires on the front seat and at least one gas can in the cab.
It turned out to be a false alarm as it was determined the truck and gas cans were empty. Police were also able to locate the driver.
