A number of Alberta towns and cities came close to breaking record temperatures Friday, including the city of Calgary.
Official numbers need to be confirmed by Environment Canada, but so far, there are nine locations that came as close as 0.1 degrees Celsius of hitting the old record.
Calgary was unofficially 19.4 degrees Celsius today; the old record was 20 degrees set back in 1992. Calgary began keeping weather records in 1882.
The three cities who did make history on Friday were:
Brooks, Banff, Edson, Grande Prairie, Pincher Creek, Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House and Whitecourt all nearly hit or exceeded record high temperatures Friday.
It is expected to be warm again Saturday, but temperatures and conditions will be more unsettled around the province Sunday.
