RCMP and Lacombe Police investigating linked crimes

Red Deer RCMP and the Lacombe Police Service are investigating a series of crimes related to the theft of a vehicle in Red Deer and an ATM in Lacombe.

On Thursday evening, a 1998 green Toyota minivan was reported stolen from the parking lot of Collicutt Centre in Red Deer.

The owner discovered his vehicle keys were missing after someone had broken into his locker.

Police said three men in the stolen van then took an ATM from the lobby of the Lacombe Hotel at about 12:30 a.m. on Friday, April 1.

Two men were observed carrying the machine from the lobby to the minivan.

They and the driver were last seen heading west on 50 Avenue in Lacombe.

A little more than an hour later, Red Deer RCMP were called to a vehicle fire at Taylor Drive and Kerry Wood Drive.

It was determined the vehicle was the stolen minivan used in the theft at the Lacombe Hotel.

The stolen ATM was inside the van.

Surveillance photos of two of the suspects have been released.
