It’s not an unusual thing for reality star Kim Kardashian to post a provocative selfie — she’s done it before.
But late Wednesday afternoon, Kardashian added someone else to the mix; she posed topless with model Emily Ratajkowski and posted it to her Instagram page.
The caption reads: “When we’re like… we both have nothing to wear LOL @emrata”

Already attracting well over one million likes, the photo generated a lot of hate (and some love).
“Did u just walk into a PUBLIC bathroom and think let’s take of our tops together?” asks one user.
“PATHETIC!” exclaimed another.
The Kim K. fans who embraced the photo had nicer things to say, like “The love I have for this is beyond words,” and “Please go take your hate to a different account because there is nothing wrong with this picture. Is it OK for a man to do something like this and a woman can’t??”
Indeed, both Kardashian and Ratajkowski have implied that the photo has deeper meaning, that it’s meant to illustrate how women are taught to be ashamed of their bodies. The picture is their “middle finger” to that sentiment.

Ratajkowski is a long-time “Free the Nipple” proponent.
Kardashian sent Ratajkowski flowers two weeks ago to show that she too supports the initiative.
In early March, Kardashian wrote a blog about her provocative Internet photos, defending her choice and lashing out against body shamers.
“I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin,” she wrote, adding, “It’s 2016. The body-shaming and slut-shaming — it’s like, enough is enough. I will not live my life dictated by the issues you have with my sexuality. You be you and let me be me.”
British TV personality Piers Morgan proclaimed that “feminism is dead” after the selfie was posted, leading to a litany of tweets on the subject.
