Man hit by car on Highway 102 in critical condition

Halifax RCMP say a man suffered critical injuries after being hit by a car on Highway 102 near the Larry Uteck exit on Wednesday night.

Police said the accident happened around 9 p.m.

The victim was a 22-year-old man from southwestern Nova Scotia. His name has not been released.

The man was taken to hospital by EHS. The driver of the car, a 33-year-old man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released.

Traffic on the highway was shut down for several hours, while collision reconstructionists were on the scene.

Police said speed and alcohol were not believed to be contributing factors.
