The blaze is being linked to a home owner’s grass fire which got out of control.

Mounties say the home owner was trying to clear a public access trail on his land.

First responders were able to control the blaze, but could not extinguish the fire because the bridge was treated in creosote, a flammable oil.

Police say the structure is a total loss. It was built in 1929 but was no longer in use.
