EDMONTON – One of the main routes from Alberta into British Columbia is shut down heading into the long weekend because of a “vehicle incident.”

The Yellowhead/Highway 16 is closed in both directions about 50 kilometres east of the Tete Jaune Cache Highway 5 junction. The scene is about 28 kilometres west of the provincial border.

The road is expected to be reopened at 2 p.m. PST/3 p.m. MST.

No easy alternate routes are available. Drivers can detour at Jasper on Highway 93 (Icefields Parkway) to Lake Louise.
