RCMP say a man is facing several charges, including one of kidnapping, after a bizarre incident in Eastern Passage Monday.
Police say a vehicle went off the road on Highway 7 in East Preston just before noon on Monday. Two people who witnessed the crash helped the lone male driver from the vehicle.
A female driver, with a two-year-old in a car seat in the back, was passing the scene and also stopped to help.
The male driver jumped into the female’s car without her permission and demanded he drive her to the Sobey’s in Cole Harbour.
The woman was frightened and drove the man to the Sobey’s, then called police immediately after he got out of her car.
Neither the woman or her child were injured.
Thirty-nine-year-old Sherlock Jaydee Downey of East Preston was arrested and now faces charges of kidnapping, impaired driving, mischief and taking a vehicle without consent.
