Man accused of human trafficking arrested in Cole Harbour

Owen Gibson-Skeir was arrested this morning and is facing numerous human trafficking charges, including trafficking a 14-year-old girl. Halifax Regional Police

RCMP have arrested a 20-year-old man facing numerous human trafficking charges including trafficking a 14-year-old Dartmouth girl.

Owen Ross Gibson-Skier of East Preston was arrested this morning in Cole Harbour.

He’s being charged with over 10 charges including:

  • procuring a person under the age of 18,
  • trafficking a person under the age of 18,
  • sexual assault,
  • invitation to sexual touching,
  • sexual interference,
  • assault,
  • uttering threats,
  • advertising sexual services,
  • material benefit from trafficking a person under the age of 18
  • and material benefit from sexual services and breach of probation.

As of Saturday morning, he was in custody being interviewed by investigators related to the noted offences.

Mr. Gibson-Skeir will be remanded for the weekend and appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday March 21.
