Micro breweries expand in Calgary

A new beer battle is brewing in Calgary, with micro breweries taking on the big brewers for a bigger share of the market.

They produce ‘craft’ beers that are gaining in popularity.

Calgary’s fourth micro brewery is opening this week.

The Minhaus micro brewery will join Wild Rose, Brew Brothers and Village Brewery to try to tap into a market that has taken off over the past two years.

The small breweries all have a pub on site and sell their product to bars and restaurants.

The two biggest brewers in the world, Molson and Labatt, have seen a drop in their sales, but the owners of Minhaus say there’s room for everyone.
