“The first phase of the river crossing study is the north commuter bridge,” said Transportation Manager Angela Gardiner.

“By the end of this year, we will have a more detailed analysis on that so the 2016 timeline is reasonable.”

The current proposed location is an extension of Marquis Drive East across the river.

The study will look at the location in-depth to ensure it is the best possible spot for the bridge.

The call for the new north bridge came up during an integrated growth plan presentation on how the city can accommodate a future population of 500-thousand people.
