CÔTE ST-LUC – Former city councillor and lawyer Mitchell Brownstein was acclaimed mayor of Côte St-Luc Friday afternoon.
A crowd of residents, city councillors and family members came to city hall to watch the time run out ahead of Brownstein’s acclamation.
The deadline for other candidates to run ended Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Brownstein wants to get young families to come and live in the city and to stop the Meadowbrooke development project.
He also wants to oversee the expansion of Cavendish boulevard.
“It’s very important to me. I think we’re best placed right now with the federal Liberals promising more money for infrastructure, with the provincial Liberals in power and Denis Coderre as our mayor,” Brownstein told Global News Friday.
Brownstein will be officially sworn in at the next council meeting on March 14.
