RCMP and Halifax Regional Police were called to the IMP Aerospace hangar at Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Thursday after being tipped off.

Later in the morning, a 48-year-old man was arrested at an apartment on Lakefront Road in Dartmouth.

Police also searched a home on Cuisak Street in Dartmouth and a home in Nine Mile River, seizing a locked gun case they believed contains a firearm and four prohibited over-capacity magazines for a rifle.

Derek Russell Strum and 46-year-old Diana Lynn Richard of Dartmouth appeared in court on Friday morning to face weapons charges in relation to the ammunition magazines.

Police are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information call police at 902-490-5016 or contact www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
