Cando Rail Services suspended after runaway rail car

REGINA – Cando Rail Services has been indefinitely suspended from operating at the Co-op Refinery after a rail car rolled away on March 1.

For now, CN Rail will be handling rail yard services at the refinery while an investigation into the rail car incident is conducted.

A representative from the refinery said a decision will be made on what to do about their working relationship with Cando once the investigation is complete.

According to a statement from Cando, the railcar filled with asphalt rolled away from the refinery just before midnight on March 1.

Workers managed to stop the car, without incident in under 15 minutes.
