TORONTO – With the summer Olympics just months away, a Canadian athlete, and medal hopeful, has decided not to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Tracy Cameron, a two-time world champion and Olympic Bronze medalist in rowing, recently dropped out of the Olympics because of a growing unhappiness.
“I was no longer there for the right reasons,” Cameron said. “I wasn’t having fun anymore, and I didn’t have that joy that you need when you go to the line and you’re pushing to win.”

Cameron also cited growing problems with her partner, Lindsay Jennerich, as motivating her to leave, what she long considered her “passion.”
The Olympian, born in 1975, grew up in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia.
Winning bronze at the 2008 Olympic games in Beiling, Cameron first began rowing with Jennerich in 2007.
They won a world title in 2010, and a World Cup in 2011.
“There are certain things that we stand by as Olympians, and values that we live by that are friend excellence, friendship and respect and those critical, key elements were also missing,” Cameron said.
In an e-mail to Global News, Cameron’s partner Jennerich, said that she wished Tracy the best, and she had great memories and results with her Cameron.
Further, Jennerich says she will forever be proud of what she accomplished with Cameron.
Cameron says that she feels happy with her decision and feels like she was a mentor for the Canadian team.
