“We believe there is up to four people that were involved in the murder of Steven Sharda. There could have been even further amount but we believe in offending vehicle there were at least three to four people,” Det. Mike Shute, the primary investigator on the case, said.

Investigators said the shooting was over a drug turf war between two rival organized crime groups. Police believe the offenders in this case are also responsible for the homicide of David Quach in August 2015.

“The reality is, if you commit crime with more than two individuals sooner or later someone is going to face some jeopardy and they’re going to realize self preservation comes into play. We’ve seen in the past, those that sit next to you and commit crime with you today will stand against you and testify in court tomorrow,” Shute said.

Shute added police are willing to work with people who may be directly involved.

“If they are willing to come forward, we’re certainly willing to talk to them.”

That gives the Sharda family hope they will one day see justice in Steven’s case.

“I pray to God every day, but I believe one day they will catch those people who shot him,” his father said. “I pray every day.”
