Prince Albert police say man threatening people with BB gun arrested

A 20-year-old man is facing numerous charges following reports of someone threatening people with a handgun in Prince Albert, Sask. on Feb. 26. Police say the firearm turned out to be a BB gun.

Initially, a man armed with a knife was reported to trying to force his way into an apartment in the 1200-block of 28th Street East around 11:35 p.m. CT. The people inside the apartment were able to keep him from entering.

He then allegedly approached a man in a parking lot, showed him what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.

He then tried to rob a second man in the parking lot and also threatened two people who were walking.

When officers arrived they chased down the suspect, took him into custody and found the BB gun.

No injuries were reported.

His charges include uttering threats, robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon and using a firearm to commit an indictable offence. The accused was scheduled to appear Monday in Prince Albert provincial court.
