REGINA – Increased construction activity for the Regina Bypass will mean additional traffic restrictions at the site of the new White City overpass, starting this week.

“People travelling near White City will be delayed as bypass construction progresses,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister Nancy Heppner said.

“We appreciate your patience. Please drive safely and watch for workers as we work to get this needed infrastructure in place.”

Starting on February 29th, motorists will be unable to make two types of traffic movements at the junction of Highway 1 and 48 at White City:

  • drivers will not be able to turn left from the North Service Road to go east on Highway 1.
  • drivers will also not be able to continue south from the North Service Road on Highway 48.

These two moves are restricted because construction activity will affect motorists’ sight lines. All other traffic movements will remain unchanged.

The province is also reminding drivers that fines for speeding in construction zones are triple that of a regular speeding ticket when workers are present. They start at $210 and increase for additional kilometers over the posted speed limit.
