Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

A strong low pressure system over Japan will pull moisture in from the Pacific Ocean, kicking up moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms across most of Japan and parts of the Korean peninsula on Saturday. Tokyo will be rainy with a chance of thunderstorms and high temperatures near 20 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, a cold front associated with this system will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms to southern China.

Hong Kong will see hot and muggy conditions with scattered thunderstorms and highs in the low 30s C. Shanghai will be just north of this system and remain under partly cloudy skies with dry conditions and highs near 30 C. High pressure to the north will keep northern China hot and dry. Beijing will be sunny with highs approaching 37 C.

In Australia, high pressure will dominate most of the country, creating warm and dry conditions. Sydney will be sunny with highs in the mid-teens C. A low pressure system developing off the west coast will bring moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms to far west Western Australia.
