WINNIPEG — Winnipeg police were called on scene to River East Collegiate Tuesday afternoon.
Police remain tight lipped on what happened, but have said there was a “dispute” at the school involving youths, and one person is in custody.
A letter from the principal was sent to students of River East Collegiate Tuesday after the incident. The letter claims someone was seen near the school with a weapon. Police were were called and the individual was taken into the custody. The person is not a student at River East Collegiate.
Winnipeg police issued a news release Tuesday afternoon that said they responded to the area at approximately 10:40 a.m. after reports of two males arguing. It was reported that one of the males had a knife.

A 16-year-old male was taken into custody and a knife was seized. He was charged with possessing a weapon.
No one was injured in the incident.
