WATCH: Winnipeg couple finds body believed to be Cooper Nemeth’s in backyard

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg couple who found the body believed to be Cooper Nemeth’s in their backyard said they haven’t been able to eat or sleep since making the grisly discovery.

At around 8 p.m. on Saturday night, Jasmine Pothumulla heard noises outside their back door as she was preparing a meal for her daughter.

She turned on the back porch light of their Valley Gardens home and called her husband Roshan who quickly went outside.

He saw a tall grey garbage bin laying on its side with legs sticking out the top.

“It took me a little while to process in my mind because I was staring at the thing and I didn’t know what to think and I said ‘it’s a dummy,’” he said.

He quickly went back inside and called police.

Several panels of their side fence had been smashed or removed where it appeared the person who dumped the body had entered their property.

Both he and his wife are still feeling the psychological effects of finding the body.

“It’s still very hard to believe and for us we feel shocked, we haven’t eaten, we haven’t slept, she don’t want to sleep in the house, we slept at her friend’s place last night,” said Roshan.

While they do feel victimized by what happened, Jasmine said the true tragedy is the way the search for Cooper Nemeth has ended.

“We feel very bad for his parents because no parents should ever lose their children. This is just horrible and I feel sorry for them,” she said.

The couple is considering selling the home even though they just moved in six months ago with their two-year-old daughter.
