The Olympic bronze medallist from Regina was expected to undergo surgery Monday afternoon.

The injury occurred Sunday night at the Air + Style competition in Los Angeles.

McMorris is expected to make a full recovery, according to a release from sponsor Red Bull Canada.

“I want to thank my family, friends, fans and sponsors for all of the love and support,” he said in the statement. “I’m disappointed to have to sit out for some time, but I am looking forward to getting back on snow as soon as possible.”

McMorris won gold in slopestyle and finished second in big air at the Winter X Games last month.
