Last week on CHBC NEWS you heard from a woman responding to the fact Kelowna is ranked the worst city in the province for the number of reported domestic abuse cases.
In that story, Tammy McEwen made several statements about her ex-husband that have never been proven in court.
In his defence, James McEwen has issued a statement pointing out that he was acquitted of the threat she alleged and says in part:
Get breaking National news
I am responding to the accusations made by Tammy McEwen on a news story that aired on CHBC May 28, 2012. Two years ago she said I threatened to kill her. I was charged with uttering threats and I spent three days in jail, and was not allowed to enter into the city of Kelowna. After waiting for my day in court I was acquitted of this charge. There is no evidence of neglect or child abuse in our home, or a history of domestic violence during our 18 year marriage. I have been in full cooperation with the R.C.M.P. and the Ministry of Children and Families, and I even signed a release of all of my children’s medical records. I have NEVER been charged with child abuse. Anyone that truly knows me can tell you my kids are my world! I am proud to say, I have never missed a child support payment. As of now, I am happy living a province away. We never hear the man’s side of the story. I just want to see my kids!
James McEwen
