EDMONTON- The Alberta wing of the Liberal Party of Canada will gather in the province’s capital at the end of February for its biennial policy convention.
Traditionally a Conservative party stronghold, Alberta saw several Grits get voted in as MPs in October’s federal election, two of whom were appointed to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet.

Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi and Minister of Veterans Affairs Kent Hehr will be among those attending the convention as well as other Liberal party members from across Alberta and Canada.

“After an exciting election last fall, this is an excellent opportunity for Liberal Party members both old and new to come together and discuss how we can continue to engage fellow Albertans in building a strong, positive future for Canada,” Karen Leibovici, one of the chairs of the convention, said in a news release.

The convention runs from Feb. 26 to Feb. 28 at the Sutton Place Hotel. It precedes the national biennial convention, which will be held in Winnipeg later this year.
