REGINA – As Valentine’s Day approaches, the demand for flowers is at its peak. In the back room of the Wascana Flower Shoppe, it’s an all hands on deck approach as orders for floral arrangements keep flooding in.
“All our young, part-time people are in,” Owner Petra Janssen explained.
“We’ve got a full crew in today and tomorrow.”
Valentine’s Day is a time of year the floral business looks forward to. Behind Mother’s Day, the romantic holiday brings in the most customers.
Having Valentine’s Day fall on a weekend this year is positive for both businesses and consumers. The extra free days gives more time for florists to create and sell their arrangements and gives last minutes romantics more time to find the perfect gift.
“She’s my half. She deserves every penny I have.”
“It’s very important that I appreciate that I have a lovely wife,” Fuzie Mesghinna said.
Janssen says when it comes to buying Valentine’s Day flowers, there is one foolproof choice.
“Red roses. I think there isn’t a woman out there who wouldn’t be happy with red roses.”
