Police investigating another two copper thefts

Copper wire remains a popular target for local thieves, and a potentially dangerous one.

Police are investigating two more thefts.

Earlier this week someone made off with copper wire from three transformer boxes outside an empty building on Bow Trail southwest. The wire was live at the time.

In another incident, someone cut the wire fence at an Enmax site in southeast Calgary and stole wire used to ground the fence.

Police say while the culprits apparently thought they were removing copper wire, it was actually steel-based.
