CALGARY – Trimac Transportation Ltd. (TSX:TMA) says it has been awarded a three-year contract worth well over $30 million to haul limestone aggregate on behalf of privately owned Hammerstone Corp.
“The Hammerstone contract enhances Trimac’s market presence in the Fort McMurray region,” president and chief operating officer Ed Malysa said in announcing the deal Thursday.
“As a result of this award and the existing products and services we perform in this key economic hub of Alberta, we anticipate additional growth opportunities and employment for our professional drivers,” Malysa added.

Trimac said the contract is anticipated to generate some $36 million in revenue over its three-year term, with Trimac’s limestone aggregate hauling operations expected to reach full capacity in the third quarter of this year.

Calgary-based Hammerstone, part of the Brookfield Asset Management (TSX:BAM.A) group of companies, owns and operates a limestone quarry with over 750 million tonnes of readily accessible limestone reserves in the heart of Northern Alberta’s oilsands region.
Trimac Transportation, also based in Calgary, provides bulk trucking, logistics, tank repair and cleaning services.
Its stock was up three cents at $4.58 in late day trading Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
