WINNIPEG — The city of Winnipeg has hired a communications firm to find out which organic waste collection program option the public supports most.
First Person Strategies is being paid $63,473 for their consulting services.
The three waste collection options they are evaluating will cost Winnipeggers between $55 to $100 on top of what they already pay for garbage and recycling collection.

However, city councillor Ross Eadie believes they should be looking at other options.
“They’re only consulting on three options so really their PR that they’re moving forward on for $64,000 is not asking people do you believe there’s other models we could utilize,” he said.

He says he doesn’t support any of the options that have been proposed.
“I’ll tell you right now I am not voting for it based on an attack in poor people with this flat fee stuff . It’s a non-goer,” he said.
First Person Strategies will be conducting meetings and consultations as they try to find out how much Winnipeggers are willing to pay for organic waste collection.
