SASKATOON – Some young hockey players will be sporting a new look thanks to a donation from the organizers of the Telus Cup West Regional tournament. Players from the Kinsmen Hockey League (KHL) will receive a total of 240 new helmets.
The 16-team league gives inner city boys and girls, aged 8-12, a chance to play hockey.
“They enjoy the game as much as anyone else and we’re providing the opportunity to them. And if you asked these kids, they’d say their dream is play in the NHL,” said KHL president Bob Fawcett.

Players from the St. John School team received their helmets Monday and practiced with the Saskatoon Contacts – the host team of the Telus Cup West Regional.
“To get brand new helmets that we can fit the kids right, it’s just huge,” Fawcett said.
The Telus Cup West Regional starts March 31.
