Another free fishing weekend is coming up in Saskatchewan. The province announced Monday there will be a free fishing weekend between Feb. 13 and Feb. 15 to celebrate Family Day.
During the weekend, Saskatchewan residents and visitors can fish without a license on any provincial public waters that have an open sport fishing season.
Coinciding with Family Day long weekend, this is a great opportunity for families to spend some time together while gaining a better appreciation for our environment and natural resources,” said Environment Minister Herb Cox.
All other fishing regulations remain in place during the free fishing weekend, including possession limits and reduced limits on some lakes and rivers. More information is available from Saskatchewan’s angler guide.
The free fishing weekend doesn’t apply to national parks, and those looking to take fish out of the province must still have a licence.

Officials are reminding those heading out on the ice to use common sense, test the thickness of the ice before travelling on it and ensure the ice is at least 10 centimetres thick for walking.
“Ice fishing is a popular activity for many Saskatchewan people and is a great activity for families,” added Cox.
