REGINA-Two fishermen narrowly escaped freezing waters after their truck fell through the ice Tuesday.

On Dec. 1, Southey/Strasbourg RCMP were informed of a Ford Ranger truck that had gone through the ice covering Last Mountain Lake, 40 kilometres northwest of Regina.

According to police, two experienced ice fisherman drove onto the ice, parked the truck and left the vehicle to fish.

When they returned and started driving off of the lake, the truck broke through the ice.

Both the driver and the passenger were able to exit the vehicle, but the driver sustained a shoulder injury when the passenger pulled him from the truck. He was transported to hospital and later released.

The truck is now embedded in the ice, over 300 feet from the shore.
