Ellie Black ended her performance in front of a sold-out hometown crowd with four more medals to her name after the Elite Canada Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Black won three silvers Sunday for vault, balance beam and floor. She won a bronze in Friday’s all-around competition.
This was Black’s first major competition on home soil, and fans came out by the dozens to ask for autographs and pictures.
“It was very special–we had an awesome crowd, and I’m very lucky and thankful that they’re all wanting to come out and watch us,” Black said.
Fellow Haligonian Hugh Smith won two golds and a silver in Saturday’s senior men’s competition.
The results in the Elite Canada competition will help Team Canada decide which women make the team for the Summer Olympics in Brazil. Black isn’t guaranteed a spot, but she has a good chance of making the cut.
Black will find out in June if she will go to Rio de Janeiro to represent Canada at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
