Cabbies with the new plates have to work between 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Brokers are also being asked to equip the new taxis with GPS systems for tracking.

Calgarians have complained for years that they can’t find a cab on weekends.

Mayor Nenshi says the new regulations will mean taxis will be available when and where people need them.
