TORONTO – A driver’s lightning-fast reflexes saved him from a near-collision caught on his dashboard camera.
Mark Corrigan was waiting at a red light at Bayview Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive at approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday.
As the light changes, he stepped on the gas and almost cleared the intersection before a grey SUV sped through the red light, nearly causing a T-bone collision.
“She went straight on through,” Corrigan told Global News. “I don’t think she touched her brakes to be honest.”
Corrigan was “shook up” by the near-miss – he estimates she missed by six inches or less — and pulled into a nearby gas station to calm his nerves. However, he’s thankful that it was just a close call.
“If I didn’t see her in time or if I wasn’t able to stop, or she hit a pedestrian or somebody it could have been a really ugly scene.”
