West Coasters are keeping it steamy, according to Amazon.ca‘s annual list of the top 20 most romantic Canadian cities.
For the fourth year in a row, Victoria comes out on… um… top, followed by North Vancouver.
B.C. as a whole dominates the rankings, with seven cities on the list. Waterloo is the first of six places in Ontario to hit the sweet spot.
Saskatoon, Sask. — which has been dubbed the “Paris of the Prairies” — beats the four Alberta contenders (including Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Red Deer).
One new addition to the list is Langley B.C., which lands a couple spots below Winnipeg.
The e-commerce company bases its annual rankings on per capita sales data of romance novels, relationship books, romantic comedies and music tunes, as well as jewelry and “sexual wellness” items.
Victoria led the way in every category.

One noticeable city missing from the list? Montreal. Ironically, it was the only Canadian city to be named one of the world’s most romantic by Mashable in Oct. 2014.

Other highlights of Amazon’s report:
- The most in-demand book across Canada was Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian by E.L. James.
- The top romantic comedy was The Hundred-Foot Journey, which was also the top pick among Victoria residents.
- Other favourites across the country were classics like Pretty Woman, While You Were Sleeping and Sleepless in Seattle.
- Diamonds, emeralds and 24-carat gold were the most common jewelry purchases.
The number one seller, though, was a pair of 18k white gold-plated Cubic Zirconia earrings, currently on sale for $20. The gem may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of romance, but who said love had to be expensive?
