Matt Dunstone had more than just revenge on his mind during the Canadian Junior Men’s Curling Championship final in Stratford, Ontario on Sunday.

The Granite Curling Club skip captured his second national title with an 11-4, eight end win over Northern Ontario’s Tanner Horgan – the same curler that dealt Dunstone his only defeat of the bonspiel. The victory not only gave Manitoba vindication but also a new place in the record book. With the win, Manitoba joins Saskatchewan as the only provinces to claim four straight Canadian junior championships.

Horgan opened the scoring with a draw for a double in the first frame. Dunstone then set himself up for a go-ahead triple in the second end by dialing up a lengthy runback to lie two with the first of his skip stones. Dunstone later stole three points in the third end before tacking on another triple with a double takeout in the sixth. Manitoba also stole a single in the fourth frame.
