Baby raccoon freed after triggering store’s alarm

 TORONTO – A baby raccoon has been released after triggering a drug store’s alarm early Thursday morning.

Police responded to what they thought was a possible break-in shortly after 2 a.m. at 728 Yonge Street, just south of Bloor St.

Upon arriving to the scene, Police discovered the culprit was a baby raccoon.

According to reports from the scene, the raccoon fell from the vent system and tripped the security alarm.

Animal Services was called but unable to attend because the incident happened on private property.

Police remained on scene for over an hour, trying to pick the lock on the front door to the store.

Shortly after 5 a.m. an employee arrived and police were able to free the furball.

A second baby raccoon also fell from the roof of the store and the two babies scampered off together while the mother looked on from the rooftop.

The mother and her babies were reunited shortly before 7 a.m.
