The children found a loaded semi-automatic gun inside the mother’s purse, which had been left in the car, police said.

Police said the weapon was accidentally discharged, leaving the seven-year-old boy wounded, the release said.

The child was airlifted to a Knoxville-area hospital for treatment but police say his condition is unknown at this time.
