Warken had testified he was in a relationship with Gordon Gregson for several years.

A pathologist testified that Gregson was strangled.

However, the defence argued the injuries were inflicted when Warken found his friend floating in a hot tub and tried to rescue him.

Sentencing has been adjourned until June 15.
