Saskatchewan potash producer Canpotext plans shipments to Myanmar

SASKATOON – Saskatchewan potash marketer Canpotex Ltd. says it is planning to make its first shipment to Myanmar.

The decision comes following the federal government’s removal of economic sanctions against the country formerly known as Burma.

CEO Steve Dechka says Canpotex also plans to help train and support farmers in the Asian country to help them improve crop yields.

The company has been exporting potash fertilizer to developing countries for the last 40 years.

Canpotex is the offshore marketer for Saskatchewan’s three potash-producing companies: Agrium Inc. (TSX:AGU), Mosaic Canada Crop Nutrition, a subsidiary of The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS), and Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. (TSX:POT).
