Riders add four international players to roster

File / Global News

REGINA – The Chris Jones overhaul of the Saskatchewan Roughriders continues to move along at a torrid pace.

On Tuesday the team announced it has signed four more players: defensive back Curtis Brown, defensive end Ryan Jones, offensive lineman Joseph Treadwell, and running back Devrin Young. All four are internationals.

Brown is the most experienced of the group with 34 regular-season NFL games under his belt. The 27 year old played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2011-2013. Last season Brown attended the New York Jets’ training camp and suited up for one preseason game.

Jones and Treadwell have also spent time with NFL clubs. Jones signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2013, while Treadwell spent time on the Houston Texan’s practice roster last season after attending training camp and playing in three preseason games.

Young signs with the Green and White after spending four seasons at Tennessee. In 33 career collegiate games, Young totaled 67 kickoff returns for 1,543 yards and 32 punt returns for 312 yards. He also added 50 carries for 204 rushing yards, and 18 receptions for 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
