EDMONTON — A legion of exercise enthusiasts lined up by the thousands in the cold Friday morning, eager to cash in on deep discounts on high-end workout wear.

The warehouse sale at the Edmonton EXPO Centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, features women’s and men’s Lululemon and Ivivva products.

On the Facebook event, some 10,000 people said they were going, and another 15,000 expressed interest.

By 6 a.m., two hours before the sale opened, hundreds were waiting in line. As of 10 a.m., the wait was expected to be about four hours long.

The line extended outside, where the temperature was a chilly -17°C. Lululemon told customers to expect to wait up to an hour outdoors before being able to move inside, and discouraged parents from bringing young children.
